Orphanage and our sponsored children
At the end of 2001 the home for orphaned children was completed. 100 children between the ages of three and 14 are currently living here with their carers in family-like groups. The children get a home with us, the necessary schooling and, above all, love and togetherness. The building was financed by the German Consul General in Calcutta, by Hessian ministries and various donations from Germany. In order to accommodate boys and girls separately according to their age, a new orphanage was built in early 2006 with combined efforts, in which there is space for both dormitories and medical facilities. The girls’ orphanage became too small in 2011 and an increase in the building was urgently needed. In 2012, the construction work on the extension was completed.
The German Consul General, who has supported the project in the past, was very impressed during a visit and stated his intention to continue supporting it in the future, as it really helps those in need in a very poor region of India.
